About Me
My passion for history stems from my earliest memories of growing up in the border town of Laredo, TX. As a child of a Mexican immigrant, I would spend the school year in the states and my summers and holidays in Mexico. These experiences helped connect me to my roots, but they also made me question the complexity of living in two very different worlds. After majoring in history at the University of Texas at Arlington, I decided that I wanted to continue my studies, particularly on topics of Latin American history. In the fall of 2017, I enrolled in the Masters of History graduate program at UTA.
My interest in historical studies did not stop there, and I wanted to learn more about the keepers of history, the archivists. After completing my archival coursework, I set a goal to become a certified archivist and librarian. This fall, I will be attending the University of North Texas to work towards a Masters of Library Science with a focus in Archival Studies and Imaging Technology. I will use the knowledge gained through my coursework to help prepare for the archival certification exam. My ultimate career goal is to work as an archivist in an academic library.
